Planning to climb Marilaque with your group this weekend or got a different destination in mind? Wherever you weekend warriors are headed make sure you tick everything on this checklist first before you even step out of your garage!

  1. Check your tires

Before every ride make sure you check the overall condition of your bike’s tires. Check for anything which has become embedded in the tire or any bubbles or bulges which show that your tire needs to be replaced. You don’t want to be the one left out by the group because of a busted tire!

  1. Check your brakes

You can’t conquer Marilaque with faulty brakes so make sure you give your bike a check before you head out. Make it a habit to check the brake pad width regularly by sight – front and back – and by feel. If there is a already a ridge, they are wearing out. Pads take a long time to wear out, so if the lever starts to lose pressure, it may be a leak. Either way, take your motorcycle to a mechanic to have the brakes checked. Better safe than sorry!

  1. Check the electronics

Fire on the ignition and check your headlight on low and high beam, indicators front and back, and taillight. Check if your horn is working as well. Then start your motorcycle to see if the battery is fully charged. If you are in doubt, replace it now before it leaves you stranded.

  1. Check your motorcycle oil

Engine oil levels should be checked when the engine is warm. With the motorcycle on the center stand on level ground, you should check the dipstick or the sight glass. You should also check the gaskets, seals and housings for any signs of leaks.

A quick check over your motorcycle before you jump on can save loads of time, trouble and help keep you safe so make sure you don’t forget do it everytime. Have a good weekend riders!
